Niklas Schmitt | Digital Factory and Operational Excellence
Niklas Schmitt completed his Industrial Engineering studies at HDBW with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. He then earned his Master of Science in Digital Factory and Operational Excellence from HDBW Munich.
He is currently working as an expert in Digital Factory and Operational Excellence in the field of production planning and logistics for subway vehicles at SWM (Stadtwerke München).
During his full-time Bachelor's studies, he worked as a working student at SWM. He completed his Master's degree at HDBW part-time while already working full-time at SWM.
Niklas continues to hold his position at SWM and uses the skills he acquired during his studies every day.

Were there aspects of your studies at HDBW that have particularly helped you in your professional life?
"The lectures were enriched with many case studies and practical experiences from the lecturers. This made it very easy to link theory with practice and apply it in professional life."
What advice would you give to current HDBW students?
"Be active in the lectures and don't hesitate to bombard the lecturers with questions. The Bachelor's program can be perfectly combined with a working student position, and with the part-time Master's program, a full-time job is also feasible. This way, you can combine the study content with the working world in the best possible way."
